S15-BASE
Base module
Base module for attaching the pole to the ground or a structure, with mechanical stability and attachment still under design.
Mechanical design reviewWe are researching new ways to protect crops. FarmPole is a modular smart pole.
The field photograph is illustrative and does not show a FarmPole installation or trial.
WHY FARMPOLE
Every farm has different crops, terrain, and entry routes. FarmPole aims to connect only the functions needed rather than relying on a single fixed device.
The system is being designed to reduce crop damage by separating sensing, control, power, and warning modules that can be configured for different sites.

Modular architecture for combining power, sensing, sound, and light to match site conditions

Research into distributed observation and decision logic between nearby poles over Bluetooth LE

Designed with module-level maintenance and phone-based configuration in mind

REAL-WORLD FIELD CONTEXT
Wildlife can travel along the edges of woods, crops, and farm roads. FarmPole is researching adaptable sensing and response modules for these environments.
THE S15 MODULE SYSTEM
The system is based on an Ø80mm outer diameter and 150mm standard module length. Each component is identified by its current development status.
Module names are engineering identifiers. Final hardware and commercial specifications are subject to validation.

S15-LIGHT
Proposed LED light-response block for visual warnings. Brightness, response scenarios, power use, and safety are still being designed.
Lighting module design
S15-FLAP

Ribbon actuation concept
S15-RANGE
Optional additional sensor concept for monitoring changes in approach distance; hardware technology and parts are not final.
Sensor expansion concept
S15-ENV
Proposed environmental context module for light, temperature, and humidity. Environmental readings are not treated as proof of animal presence.
Environmental sensor conceptHOW IT WORKS
We are researching a clear flow from observation to decision and response. Actual physical outputs remain distinct from planned or simulated actions.

Radar and PIR provide motion and distance clues. Their signals cannot reliably identify a species.

The system evaluates signal health, duplicate detections, installed modules, and per-pole priorities from 1 to 6.

It plans sound, light, or moving-element responses based on settings and installed modules, with staged validation.

Nearby phone configuration uses BLE; connected environments may report status and events to the server.
* This flow includes target capabilities. Wildlife field effectiveness and production-grade weatherproofing, power, and safety validation are not complete.
CORE ARCHITECTURE
A shared mechanical standard is intended to simplify design and allow modular configurations for different farms.
Diameter and module length are design targets. Internal dimensions, connectors, and production specifications require further testing.
POTENTIAL APPLICATIONS
These are potential environments under consideration, not proven deployments. Installation suitability requires on-site evaluation.

Designed around crop protection and possible entry routes along the perimeter

Considering monitoring along crop edges, farm roads, and approach routes

Locations where placement and communication between several poles matter
Photographs illustrate potential sites and do not document FarmPole installations or validated performance.
DEVELOPMENT STATUS
FarmPole is in research and prototyping. We distinguish verified experiments from future product goals.

ESP32-C3 controllers, Bluetooth LE connectivity, and some Wi-Fi/server integration have been tested.
Radar and PIR observation and speaker output control have been bench-tested. This does not establish product-grade accuracy or deterrence effectiveness.
The enclosure, power and solar options, LEDs, and ribbon actuation are in design and future validation stages.
Long-term wildlife trials, weather resistance, durability, electrical safety, and effectiveness testing are still required.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Clear answers on the purpose and current scope of the project.
It is a modular smart pole being developed to help reduce wildlife-related crop damage. The architecture aims to combine sensing and deterrent functions as needed.
The current radar and PIR approach cannot reliably classify wildlife species. Wildlife detection rates and deterrence effectiveness have not been validated.
Batteries and an optional round top-mounted solar panel are design concepts. Charging performance, autonomous runtime, and waterproof ratings are unconfirmed.
No. Selectable modules are central to the concept. Real compatible configurations and installation constraints require electrical and mechanical validation.
A BLE field-setup app and server-side monitoring are being developed and tested. Remote access depends on connectivity, user authorization, and deployment conditions.
